Beta archives are not code-signed, so macOS Gatekeeper or Windows SmartScreen may block or warn about Orek on first run. Verify the digest first, then follow the installation guide's steps for an unsigned build.

Get-FileHash <downloaded-file> -Algorithm SHA256Extract manual archives into a single directory (Expand-Archive on Windows .zip, mount the .dmg on macOS, or tar -xzf on Linux .tar.gz) and keep orek alongside its companion files (llama-server, its libraries, LICENSE.txt, and THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt). Archives do not include the default local model files; the terminal installer downloads them, and the disconnected workstation checklist explains where to copy them for a manual install. Local models use your GPU when Orek finds a compatible one (Metal on Apple Silicon Macs, Vulkan on Windows and Linux) and the CPU otherwise. GPU acceleration is supported on Windows PCs with AMD graphics and experimental on other systems. Run orek doctor after installing to see which GPU Orek found.
Activation is separate from downloading. Approve your device in the browser with orek license login, activate with a license key, or import an offline license file on a machine without internet access. Once activated, Orek verifies your license locally on your machine with no recurring check-in.
